Understanding Your Background Check Results

Modified on Sun, Jan 26 at 8:49 PM

When you apply as a driver, we run a background check to help ensure the safety and security of our community. Below, you’ll find the three possible outcomes of your background check, along with the requirements for a clear background check and what to do if you don’t pass.

1. Possible Background Check Outcomes

A. Background Check Clear

  • What It Means
No issues were identified, and you meet the requirements.
  • Next Steps
You can proceed with the onboarding process immediately. A button in your account panel will guide you to the next step.

B. Background Check Under Review

  • What It Means
There may be some information that requires further examination.
  • Next Steps
Our team will review the findings in detail and will reach out if additional information is needed or once a final decision is made.

C. Background Check Did Not Meet Requirements

  • What It Means
The results indicate you are not currently eligible to drive with us based on our criteria.
  • Next Steps
    • Reapply Later: You can usually reapply after a set waiting period. During this time, you may address any issues that arose in your initial background check.
    • Pre-Adverse Action Notices: We do not send pre-adverse action notices because of the associated cost, so there will be no additional notification if your application is not approved.

2. Clear Background Check Requirements

What Does a “Clear Background Check” Mean?

  1. Driving Record

    • No driving violations in the past 3 years, such as:
      • Speeding tickets
      • Running red lights
      • At-fault or otherwise recorded accidents
  2. Criminal History

    • No disqualifying criminal convictions or safety concerns
  3. Compliance

    • Must meet all local, state, and federal regulations for rideshare drivers

3. Background Check Fee

  • The background check has a one-time fee of $27.50.

4. What Happens If I Don’t Pass the Background Check?

  • You will not be approved to drive.
  • If you believe there is an error, you can contact the background check provider (e.g., Crimcheck) to dispute or update your report.

5. Can I Reapply If My Record Improves?

  • Yes! You’re welcome to reapply once your record meets the requirements (for instance, after maintaining a clear driving record for 3 years).
